James Edward Nicholson, III, 63, of Castle Rock, Washington (formerly of the Silver Valley), passed away April 3, 2017 at the Hospice Care Center of Longview, Washington.  He was born April 29, 1953 in Silverton, Idaho; Jim was the son of James E. and Carroll A. (Johnson) Nicholson, Jr.

Jim attended and graduated from the Wallace High School in 1971.

After high school, Jim had worked for various mines in the Silver Valley; he then joined the U.S. Army, where he met Kristi Rawlins; they married and after serving in the armed forces, Jim and Kristi moved back to the Silver Valley.  Jim went back to mining here and in 1996 moved to Winnemucca, Nevada, where both he and Kristi served as miners.  Jim and Kristi later divorced and in 2005, Jim moved to Phoenix, Arizona to be with his daughter Jessica.  While in Arizona, Jim attended and graduated from the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute.  He traveled for a few years and then settled back with his daughter in Castle Rock, Washington.

Jim loved and enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, hunting and shooting, video games and cooking.

Jim is survived by his daughter Jessica and Sandy Jones of Castle Rock, Washington; one granddaughter Alyssa O’Neill; four sisters Joan Benson of Denver, Colorado, Rita Nicholson of Olympia, Washington, Mary Costa of Middleton, Idaho and Jane DeShazer of Allegan, Michigan; two brothers Bill Nicholson of Sandpoint, Idaho and Paul Nicholson of Tyler, Texas; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Bruce and David Nicholson, Robert Forbes and one sister Carol Ann Ingham.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 1:00 P.M., at the Nine Mile Cemetery of Wallace, Idaho with Father Jerome Montez officiating.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 911 W. 5th Ave., Spokane, Washington 99204.
