Jack Corder, 55, passed away July 30th from natural causes at his home in Spokane.
The son of Silver Valley natives Bill and Rosemary Corder, Kellogg, Jack was born July 17. 1961, in Sacramento, CA, while his father was serving in the Air Force.
The military upbringing allowed Jack to share his joy (and mischief) at bases and schools in Alabama, Arizona, Oklahoma and The Philippines prior to moving to Idaho and graduating from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1980.
Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1983 and served as an Intelligence Specialist stationed in Germany.
After three years of exemplary service, Jack returned to Coeur d'Alene where he enrolled at North Idaho College and studied math and computer science.
On Dec. 18, 1992, Jack married Christine Wagner in Coeur d'Alene. Along with step-daughter K.C., the couple lived in the Coeur d'Alene area for 19 years, including several years working side by side at Center Partners. Christine died in 2011.
Jack worked for several years at Ponderosa Motors in Coeur d'Alene, where his honesty, integrity and genuine concern for others allowed him to excel as a salesman.
Rambunctious as a child, Jack carried those mischievous traits with him into adulthood. Armed with a dry wit, he often prefaced tales by stating “Back when I was in the 'Nam. ...” His deadpan delivery left many doing mental gymnastics trying to calculate if he was old enough to have served during that era. (He wasn't.)
Jack enjoyed fishing, camping, the Mariners and the Seahawks. His approach and delivery of a bowling ball was as fluid and natural as a Ken Griffey Jr. home run swing.
Above all, Jack's greatest attribute was his ability to see a person's inner beauty and disregard all else. He was a champion for the overlooked and under-appreciated -- human or animal.
Jack has now gone fishing with Grandpa and his Uncle Calvin. Rest in peace, Son, and save some fish for us. We will be together again one day.
Jack is survived by his parents, Bill and Rosemary Corder, Kellogg; long-time companion, Monica, Spokane; step-daughter, K.C. Wang, Rathdrum; sister, Carla (Corder) Beehner, Kellogg; nieces, Brandy Thanos, Wasilla, AK, Danielle Fitzsimmons, Kellogg, and Misty Sanders, Albuquerque, N.M.; and great-grand nephews, Ryan and Jacob, Wasilla.
He was preceded in death by wife, Christine (Wagner) Corder.
Inurnment will be at the Mullan Cemetery. A memorial will take place at a later date.
The family suggests memorials be made to Silver Valley Pet Rescue.
