Hermia Crosby

December 5, 1920 — September 8, 2017

Hermia Lillian (Clark) Crosby died peacefully on September 8, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society, Silver Wood Village (Good Sam) in Silverton, Idaho; she was 96. Hermia was born on December 5, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN to Benjamin William Clark and Hermia Edwards. She graduated from high school there as well as the University of Minnesota. On March 25, 1943, she married Garth Merrill Crosby, also of Minneapolis. After two years in El Paso, Texas and a mining camp in New Mexico, they moved to Wallace, raised two sons, Benjamin and Thomas, and invested their time and energy in the community. In 1968, they bought a cabin at Leaning Pine Point on Lake Coeur d'Alene, where they enjoyed relaxing, boating and welcoming family and friends. Garth died on January 2, 1992.

Hermia was a longtime member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, a volunteer at Good Sam for more than 50 years, Shoshone County Community Concerts Association, the Osburn Public Library, and Silver Valley Stitchers. She loved to cook, read, travel, garden, golf, play bridge and always had time to visit over a cup of coffee.

She is survived by sons Benjamin (and Alice Ling) of Harrison, Idaho and Thomas (and Soozi) of Whitefish, Montana; grandsons David (and Kim Kraus) of Bethel, Vermont, Andrew (and Alayna Lull) of Duluth, Minnesota, and Timothy (and Emma) of Gillette, Wyoming; three great grandchildren, sister-in-law Lois Crosby, and three nieces. She was preceded in death by Garth, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, William and Eva Clark.

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2 pm at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 408 Cedar Street, in Wallace, with Rev. Art Fleming officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Hermia's memory to the church (see above) or the Good Samaritan Volunteer Fund (PO Box 358, Silverton, ID 83867)
