Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Helen M. “Chickie” “Baba” Crnkovich, 88, of Silverton, Idaho, passed away June 7, 2015 at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan of Silverton. She was born March 19, 1927 in Kellogg, Idaho; Chickie was the daughter of Michael David and Mary (Malkovich) Manolovich.
Chickie attended and graduated from the Kellogg High School of Kellogg in 1945. She then attended the Kinman Business College of Spokane, Washington.
Chickie married Mike Crnkovich on July 11, 1954 at the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg.
Chickie has lived in the Silver Valley all of her life. She had served as a receptionist at the old Wardner Hospital, the Providence Hospital of Wallace and lastly as a receptionist for Dr. Gnaedinger of Wallace; she then retired.
Chickie was a member of the Osburn V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Red Hat Ladies and tried to keep the spirit of her Greek Orthodox faith alive within her family. Chickie and her husband Mike were the ultimate of avid sport fans of all sports and were honored as Life Time Achievement Members and were inducted into the Wallace High School Hall Of Fame.
Chickie was an avid crocheter and had crocheted beautiful afghans, hats and mittens for family and friends. She also enjoyed painting ceramics and loved all items of Betty Boop.
Chickie is survived by her husband Mike Crnkovich of Silverton; one son Mike Crnkovich and Kelly Wise of La Selva Beach, California; three granddaughters Katlynn Calton of Sparks, Nevada; Kristen Crnkovich of Castle Rock, Colorado and Kimberley Crnkovich of Cherry Creek, Colorado; and one great-grandchild is on the way; she is also survived by one sister Mildred Savage of Kellogg and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation will be held and Memorial Services will be held and announced at a later date.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Wallace High School Athletic Fund, #1 Miners Alley, Wallace, Idaho 83873.
