Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Harold Ruben Horning, 75, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away July 6, 2014 at Pacifica of Pinehurst. He was born July 16, 1938 in Mercer County, North Dakota; Harold was the son of Adolph and Magdalena (Thielman) Horning.
Harold attended and graduated from High School in Zap, North Dakota. He served in the U.S. Navy. Harold moved to the Silver Valley in 1959. He married Betty Eid on September 25, 1959 in Mullan, Idaho.
Harold served as an assayer for the Hecla Mining Company for thirty-four years.
Harold loved and enjoyed his family, yard work, shoveling snow, and wood working in his shop. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting.
Harold is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-four years Betty Horning of the family home of Osburn; two sons Mark Horning and Jeanette Wilks of Osburn and Bruce (Kim) Horning of Graton, California; one granddaughter Kaitlyn Horning of Osburn; two sisters Doris Fetter of Post Falls, Idaho and Arlene Bauer of Sun City, Arizona; his sister-in-law Regina Horning of Osburn; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
Cremation will be held and Inurnment Graveside Services will be held and announced at a later date at the Coeur d’ Alene Memorial Gardens of Coeur d’ Alene.
