Beloved, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Gerald “Red“ Wayne McDaniel, 89, of Rose Lake, Idaho, passed away September 17, 2015 at Mountain Valley Health and Rehabilitation in Kellogg, Idaho. He was born July 10, 1926 in Oklahoma; Red was the son of Powell and Omelia (Dodson) McDaniel.
Red moved to the Silver Valley in 1974 from Hawthorne, California.
He married Celia Taylor in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death in 2000.
He was self-employed as an electrician.
Red loved and enjoyed his family, the outdoors and his orange Challenger. He also visited and volunteered at Mountain Valley Health for many years. Red was a very special person and he loved and cared for everyone around him.
Red is survived by his daughter Judy (Jim) Schutt of Huntington Beach, California; two grandchildren Michael Schutt and Laura (Scott) Cohea; four great-grandchildren Megan, Katie, Jeremy and Kendal; one sister Carol Lamb of Arizona; and one brother Pat McDaniel of Kellogg, Idaho. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in North Idaho. Red was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Celia, and four brothers Buford, Mac, J.D. and Roy McDaniel.
Cremation will take place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
