Gary Dean Dunn, 74
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Gary Dean Dunn, 74, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away August 13, 2016, at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg. He was born October 6, 1941 in Peoria, Oklahoma; Gary was the son of Archie and Tina (Cowan) Dunn.
Gary moved to the Silver Valley with his family, as a young boy. He attended schools here in the Valley.
Gary married Patricia Overman on October 31, 1965 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Patricia passed away on June 29, 2009.
Gary had served as a miner and had worked at the Bunker Hill Mining Company and the Sunshine Mine, retiring in 2002. He also was an excellent carpenter and had built and remodeled homes.
Gary was a member of the Smelterville Lions Club for many years; he was also a member of the Steelworkers Union and a Mens’ Bowling League for many years.
Gary loved and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he collected model cars and enjoyed attending car shows. Gary proudly owned a 1985 Cadillac convertible, which he always drove in the Pinehurst parades. He was an avid Gonzaga Fan and was a great story teller; Gary loved telling stories.
Gary is survived by five children Britt Glisson of Pinehurst, Idaho, Bill (Missy) Dunn of Hauser Lake, Idaho, Gregg (Mike) Glisson of Spokane, Washington, Dawn (Jim) Crow of Pinehurst, Idaho and Laurie Dunn of Spokane, Washington; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers Kenney Dunn of Kellogg, Idaho and Danny Dunn of Washington; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia, one son Scott Dunn, one sister and three brothers.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Holman and the staff of Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg for the wonderful care that was shown to Gary and a special thanks to Maria Wadsworth and the Shoshone County E.M.S. Crew.
Private Family Memorial Services will be held. And a Celebration of Gary’s Life with a gathering of family and friends and a potluck will be held and announced at a later date; everyone is welcome to this Celebration.
