Eugene “Gene” Albert Tarr passed away on April 24, 2015 at Hospice House in Couer d’Alene, Idaho after a long illness due to heart disease and other age related issues. He was born January 20, 1936 in Wilder, Idaho. Gene was the son of Seth Prentice and Mable Marie (Josephson) Tarr.
His early years were spent on the family farm south of Wilder, Idaho.
Gene was united in marriage to Wilma Jean Corn on July 13, 1959 in Elko, Nevada. They farmed a few years after their marriage and two beautiful daughters were added to the family during those years, Kimberly Dianne in 1961 and Susan Dawn 1964.
Gene joined the Boise Fire Department in 1965 and remained there of 21 plus years, retiring as a Captain. The family moved back to the family farm in Wilder and opened Gene’s Home Video where they made many lifelong friends. After selling the video store, Gene went to work at Wilder Market. He remained working there until he retired in 1998. Then he and Jeanie spent many happy winters being snowbirds in Arizona along with brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Bertha Tarr and other friends. They enjoyed being active members of the Golden Gate Baptist Church, The Idaho Horseshoe Pitchers Association, and Gene very much enjoyed the friends and outings of The Over the Hill Gang golfers. In 2002 Gene and Jeanie moved to the Silver Valley in North Idaho.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Seth Jr., Richard, and Larry Tarr; sisters Virginia Tarr and Arlene Oliver and grandsons Chet Betancourt IV and Robert Jennell IV. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie; daughters Kimberly Jennell and Susan (Mitch) Sansom; brother Jim Tarr; sisters Marjorie Smith and Peggy (Floyd) Bryant.
