Eugene Meligan

Eugene “Gene” W. Meligan, 68, of Kingston, Idaho, passed away October 21, 2013 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg. He was born May 24, 1945 at Brainerd, Minnesota; Gene was the son of Homer and Burnice (Jones) Meligan.

Gene moved to the Silver Valley in 1948 from Minnesota. He attended and graduated from the Kellogg High School of Kellogg in 1963. Gene served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Eugene married Charlene Roberts on January 26, 1966 at the American Lutheran Church of Kellogg.

Gene first worked at the Bunker Hill Mining Company Zinc Plant; he then served as a laborer in road construction. Gene then served in mining working at the Coeur Mine, he also mined in Elko, Nevada and a gold mine in Sutter Creek, California and lastly returning to the Coeur.

Eugene loved and enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, gathering wood and going for rides or trips.

Eugene is survived by his beloved wife Charlene Meligan of the family home of Kingston; one son Kenny Meligan of Smelterville; one grandson Brandon Meligan of Kellogg; two brothers Glen Meligan of Kingston and Loran Meligan of Pinehurst; one sister Lois Price of Corvallis, Oregon; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Harley. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters.

Cremation will be held and Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Shoshone Cancer Resource Center, 204 Oregon Street, Suite J Kellogg, Idaho 83837 or to the Shoshone County Food Bank, 311 Main Street, Kellogg, Idaho 83837.
