Elwood Bauer

Beloved father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather and friend, Elwood G. Bauer of Kellogg, Idaho, died November 27, 2014 at Hospice House of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was born July 21, 1934 in Inwood, Iowa. Elwood was the son of Gustave and Elouise (Hall) Bauer.

Elwood moved to the Silver Valley in 1961 and worked as a Miner until the mid 1980’s. He worked for the Page and Bunker Hill mines and retired from the Sunshine mine.

Elwood married LaVonne Gravelle and together they had 6 children; they later divorced and remained close friends.

He enjoyed working on cars; he was a mechanic, a skill he passed on to his sons. Elwood also loved his dog Samantha.

Elwood is survived by his children, sons Allen (Galina) Bauer of Boise, Idaho, Merlyn Bauer of Kellogg and Terry Bauer of Smelterville, Idaho; daughters Michelle Bauer and Laurel Story both of Kellogg; ex-wife, friend and caregiver LaVonne Gravelle of Kellogg; brother Arlen Bauer of Oklahoma and sisters Loretta Kane and Evelyn Rogge both of South Dakota. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Elwood was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kimberly; grandson James Elwood Bauer; and his brothers Eldon and Wilmer Bauer.

Cremation will take place and services will be announced at a later date.

The family suggests that donations can be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
