Elizabeth "Bette" Ann Krause

Elizabeth “Bette” Ann Krause, 97, of Silverton, ID, passed away on April 10, 2025 at Silverton of Cascadia Health and Rehabilitation in Silverton, ID where she had been a resident for several years. Bette was born on June 5, 1927 in Bessemer, MI, a daughter of the late Andrew and Inga (Leppala) Halmon.

In her childhood, Bette’s family moved from Michigan to Mullan, ID where she attended school up until the 10th grade. The family relocated to Vancouver, WA where she graduated high school in 1945. Soon after graduating, Bette married Fred Krause on February 15, 1946 and the couple shared 73 years of marriage until his death in December of 2020.

The couple moved back to Mullan, ID where they lived for 25 years and Bette worked at the IGA and Economy Grocery Stores. They later moved to San Diego, CA where Bette worked for Sears for 28 years. Bette enjoyed bowling, traveling, and trips every year to visit her family in Mullan.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Fred, Bette is preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Gray.

Survivors include her son, Stephen (Annette) Krause of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bette’s family wishes to extend a personal thank you to Paulette at Silverton of Cascadia for her friendship and care of Bette over the years.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, 11:00 AM in the chapel of Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 S. Main St., Kellogg, ID. Private family inurnment with her husband, Fred, will occur at Mountain View Cemetery in Mullan.
