Elfrun Maria Hansen, 88, of Silverton, ID, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Silverton on February 17, 2025. Elfrun was born on January 30, 1937, in Bad-Schlag, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of the late Franz and Elisabeth (Leder) Nysera.
Elfrun met Matthew Hansen in Germany, and they married there Dec 3, 1957. Together, they welcomed three daughters into the world. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love lasting 43 years, until Matthews passing in 2000.
Elfrun cherished her role as a “Domestic Engineer,” a title she embraced while lovingly raising her three daughters and eldest granddaughter. As her family grew and pursued their own paths, Elfrun remained active and engaged by dedicating over 18 years to Dave Smith Motors, where she made many enduring friendships. Elfrun found immense joy and tranquility in cultivating her own vegetables and caring for her expansive flower garden. She was also known for her culinary talents, delighting family and friends with her delicious German dishes and baked goods.
In addition to her parents, Elfrun is preceded in death by her loving husband Matt (2000) and son-in-law Larry Bruce (Donna) (2020).
Survivors include her three daughters, Donna (Gordon) Jager of Junction City, OR, Gail (Lou) Featherstone of Wallace, ID, and Paige (AL) Sorenson-Thomas of Kingston, ID; three grandchildren, Elisabeth (David) Rockefeller, Andrea (Lucas) Weimer, and Lawrence (Stephanie) Featherstone; and one great-grandson, Finley.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date. Elfrun’s family requests that donations in her memory be made to Shoshone Pet Rescue or to the charity of one’s choice.
