Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Edna “Marie” (Chapin) Stevenson, 75, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away July 5, 2014 at her home of Kellogg. She was born July 17, 1938 in Webb City, Oklahoma; Marie was the daughter of Joseph M. and Edna L. (Jackson) Chapin.

Marie attended schools in Oklahoma and entered Catholic Nursing School at the age of 17. She married Edward M. Stevenson on February 2, 1957; Ed passed away in April of 1983.

Marie moved to the Silver Valley in 1958. Marie had served as a cook, waitress and co-owner of a tavern along with her husband Ed. But Marie’s career was in the medical field. She had worked in several physicians offices, the Providence Hospital, the Wallace Hospital, the East Shoshone Hospital when it first opened and had lastly served as Director of medical records at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg for 18 years.

Marie had served as a PTA secretary, a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, a little girls softball coach and a foster parent for foster children. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, served as chairman of the County Americans with Disabilities Committee #504, a member of the Pinehurst Planning and Zoning Commission and had served on the Board of Trustees for the Shoshone Medical Center and Free Clinic. Marie had also worked for the Idaho Professional Review Organization at the Shoshone Medical Center and East Shoshone Hospital.

Marie loved and enjoyed her family; she so loved her family trip to the Holy Land and the special camping and fishing trips with her children when they were young. She also loved her Serger sewing machine, her computer and her large print bible.

Marie is survived by two sons Mick (Sharon) Stevenson of Pinehurst, Idaho; Danny (Tina) Stevenson of Kellogg; her daughter Marilyn (Daryl) Bewick of Pinehurst; she is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister Joyce (Charles) Minor of Texas. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed Stevenson, her daughter Kimberly and her brothers Danny and Joe.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014, at 12:00 Noon at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg with Pastor Corey Berti officiating.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the charity of the Donor’s choice.
