Edgar “Ed” Allen Barker, 84, of Silverton, Idaho, passed away June 24, 2014, at the family home of Silverton. He was born February 1, 1930 in Leduc, Alberta, Canada; Ed was the son of William and Stella (Novotne) Barker.
Ed moved to the Silver Valley in 1936 from Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He married Colleen Mader on September 10, 1948 in Coeur d’ Alene.
Ed started working at the age of 16 at his Uncle’s saw mill. He then worked at various mines, retiring from the Bunker Hill Mining company. Ed was a carpenter by trade and after retirement he learned the art of fretwork, making beautiful clocks.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years Colleen Barker of the family home of Silverton; his daughter Larian (Frank) Seatz of Coeur d’ Alene; a daughter-in-law Deeann Barker of Kellogg; seven grandchildren Angie (Kevin) Walker, Tara Seatz, Jeremy (Liz) Seatz, Eric Knapp, Jacob Barker, Lucas Barker and Samuel Barker; seven great-grandchildren Katie Dumont, Reni Dumont, Kenzie Dumont, Declan Seatz, Owen Seatz, Izabella Seatz and K.J. Walker; and three great-great grandchildren; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; three children Roni Parkins, Michael Barker and Mark Barker; one grandson Tyson Parkins; one great-grandson Justin Dumont; and three brothers Robert, Donald and Dallas Barker.
Cremation will be held and private family graveside services will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg.
