Dorothy J. Jaggard, age 96, passed away September 26, 2023 in Silverton, Idaho. She was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey in 1927 to parents Viola and Joseph Clees. After graduating from high school at age 18, in a brave move, she boarded a train to travel across the country to Wallace, Idaho to marry Donald Jaggard who was returning from WWII. They were married for 58 years, until his death in 2003. They had 3 children: Donna, Danny, and Doris, who survive her. Her grandchildren total 7, great grandchildren 8, and 1 great-great grandson.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal church in Wallace where she wore many hats; vestry and ECW member, senior warden, and directress of the altar for 51 years. She was known as the “Queen of the Rummage Sale”! She volunteered at the Good Sam home in Silverton for 25 years; A Camp fire and Blue Birds leader as well. They played Pinochle and Bridge with friends. She was a skilled cook, seamstress, and needle worker. She loved gardening, huckleberry picking, and fishing; often getting “the big one”! Corresponding with friends and family, she was an avid writer; including a pen pal from England for 80 years! She and Don traveled the world together: Alaska, Europe, the Caribbean, and Australia.
An amazing singer, mom sang in the church choir and the community Easter cantata. She could also call us home at dinnertime no matter where in town we might be! LOL! She was funny and loved to laugh! She was feisty!!
At Dorothy’s request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Memories of Dorothy may be shared with her family online at www.shoshonefuneralservice.com. Shoshone Funeral Services, Kellogg, is assisting the Jaggard family with arrangements.
