Dorothy Cummings Pettit, 84
Dorothy Cummings Pettit, 84, passed away November 19, 2016 at her home in Osburn, Idaho with her husband Willie by her side. An Angel went to heaven. Dorothy was born October 26, 1932 in Great Falls, Montana; she was the daughter of Gustav and Elsie (Reitinger) Hoeffner.
She attended High School in Fort Benton. She and her twin sister Delores were cheerleaders and graduated with the class of 1948.
Dorothy’s love of dogs was well known. She collected photographs and dog statues. She enjoyed baking and cooking. She prepared delicious well balanced meals which she was proud to serve to family and guests. Dorothy was an excellent seamstress, spending many hours on her Mother’s antique Singer sewing machine.
She worked many years at the Playfair Race Track in Spokane, Washington, before moving to the Silver Valley after retirement in 1985.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband Willie of Osburn, Idaho; Daughter in-law Debra Short, of Wallace, Idaho who provided loving care for Dorothy for an extended period of time; Her best friend of many years Beverly Taylor of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Daughter Connie Beapre and son Dan Crane. She is also survived by her sister Delores Fitzhugh of Troy, Montana; three Grandchildren Jim Cason of Page, Idaho, April Cason of Wallace, Idaho, Tammy Cason Davis of Osburn, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jim and two sons Tom and Tim Crane.
Cremation will take place and no services will be held per Dorothy’s request.
