Dorothy Abercrombie

November 5, 1928 — November 22, 2013

My Mom is at peace now. A talented woman, who was a very positive force in my life.

Born November 5, 1928 in Provo, Utah to Minnie and Bliss Kelly Jepperson. She joined a brother and sister. The family moved to Wendell, Idaho, where she grew up and went to school. After high school, Dorothy moved to Gooding, Idaho and worked at Oakley’s Ice Cream Shoppe. That was where she met Gene. After a summer romance, they eloped to Elko, Nevada and wed on September 29, 1947. Son, Michael was born in August 1948, daughter Marta was born in June 1952.

Dorothy’s seamstress skills were superb, she could make whatever she saw, without even using a pattern. She painted the most amazing pictures, usually landscapes. I have many of her beautiful artworks throughout our home. She could grow just about anything; her flowers were gorgeous. Mom was an avid reader and instilled the love of books to Michael and I.

Dorothy retired from the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind; her work was with the younger deaf boys. They loved her and called her “Abby”.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bliss Jr., sister Geniveve, husband Gene and son Michael. She is survived by daughter Marta Abercrombie-Kibbee and husband Clay of Pinehurst, Idaho; sister-in-law Arlene Jarvis of Gooding, Idaho; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-great nephews in Southern Idaho, Arizona and Louisiana.

Cremation was held and upon her request, no memorial services will be held.

SHOSHONE FUNERAL SERVICES & CREMATORY KELLOGG, IDAHO is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
