Donald Ellison Peters, 79

Donald Ellison Peters, 79, of Wallace, Idaho, passed away April 22, 2016 at the family home. He was born December 10, 1936 in Lewiston, Idaho; Don was the son of Keith and Esther (Bentley) Peters.

Don attended and graduated from the Post Falls High School in 1955. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Don married Antionette (Toni) Macaluso in 1956 in Kearny, New Jersey. Together they had two children. They later divorced and Don went on to marry Lenor Sontag in 1972. Don was preceded in death by Lenor in 1980. In 1982 Don was united in marriage to Phyllis (Burch) Gray in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

After leaving the Army Don went to work for Martin Aircraft as an Electrical Engineer, traveling and working throughout several states. After several years Don and Toni returned to his childhood home in Post Falls, Idaho to raise their family. There he went to work for Northwest Electronics in Spokane. Don was a very intelligent and talented man going into business for himself as a communications specialist installing television systems throughout Northern Idaho. He was also a master carpenter making and installing custom cabinets; he was able to build anything out of wood with his two hands. Don was known for his talent in building and restoring wooden boats, as a master knife craftsman, and was always building and creating something. Most of all Don enjoyed hunting and fishing along with spending time with his beloved family.

Don was a member of the Wallace Elks and was the Deacon at the Post Falls Community Presbyterian Church. As a young man Don became an Eagle Scout and later became a Scout Master.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-three years Phyllis Peters; four children Jean Lindsey, Nita Hagen, John Gray, and Matthew Gray; six grandchildren Jeremy, Misty, Camas, Brandi, Katy and Wyatt along with numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Scottie Peters and many beloved nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, second wife Lenor, three sons Billy, Steve, Charlie and a grandson Brian.

Memorial services for Don will be held on Wednesday April 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel with Pastor Art Fleming Officiating. Following the service a Celebration of Don’s life will take place at the Wallace Elks.
