Donald Huber

February 8, 1938 — September 27, 2015

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Donald “Don” Ray Huber, 77, of Cataldo, Idaho passed away peacefully at Hospice House of Coeur d’ Alene. Don was born on February 8, 1938 in Kellogg, Idaho. He was the son of Frank and Mary (Hoerschgren) Huber.

Don grew up enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and all of the great things North Idaho has to offer.

Don was united in marriage to Ilene Hewitt on September 30, 1960 in Coeur d’ Alene.

He worked at the Bunker Zinc Plant prior to his marriage to Ilene and they lived in the Cataldo most of their life. Don worked in the logging industry, mining and construction. He was superintendent at a rock crushing plant and he also had an excavating company, I.D. Excavating. After retiring, he worked for Panhandle Pipe and Welding and Peak Adventures. Don would always say “I am a jack of all trades and a master at none”. He loved his family and worked hard to show his children the importance of hard work. Don was a generous man with a loving attitude; he always wore a smile.

Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ilene of the family home in Cataldo and their three children Lynnell Smith of Hayden, Idaho, Jane Alleman of Coeur d’Alene and Les Huber of Pinehurst, Idaho. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Tabitha and Cody Kraack, Hannah and Amelia Smith, and Taylor and Dylan Huber and one great-grandchild, Easton Morgan. Don is also survived by his twin brother Bob Huber, brothers Gary and Larry Huber, sister Jean Meyer, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of Don‘s life on Saturday, October 3, 2015, 11:00AM at the Steelworkers Hall, 110 N. Hill Street, Kellogg. The family suggest that donations in Don’s memory may be made Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, Idaho 83835.
