Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Donald “Don” Edwin Battleson, 87, of Osburn, Idaho passed away November 12, 2013 at the family home of Osburn. He was born February 16, 1926 at Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Don was the son of Richard Otto and Marie (Willis) Battleson.
Don attended and graduated from the Lincoln High School of Thief River Falls, Minnesota in 1944. He also attended Telegraphers School of Spokane, Washington.
Don married Dorothy Adams on September 15, 1955 at the Christian Church of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. They moved to the Silver Valley in 1955 from Tekoa, Washington.
Don had served as a telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railroad and later served as a station agent for the Union Pacific Depot of Wallace. Don and his family resided upstairs of the Depot from 1964-1976.
Don was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge and a fifty year member of the Wallace Elks #331; he was also a member of the Toastmasters Club.
Don loved and enjoyed his family- he was a doting Papa; he also enjoyed bowling, hunting for pheasant, fishing and playing cribbage.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years Dorothy Battleson of the family home of Osburn; four children Lynn Towne of Post Falls, Idaho, Carol (Julian) Justin of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Donald “Eric” Battleson and his partner John Baker of Spokane, Washington and Linda and Harry Larson of St. Cloud, Minnesota; three grandchildren Jarrod (Samantha) Towne of Post Falls, Idaho, Chris Stoddard of Wallace and Cari Stoddard of Minot, North Dakota; three great-grandchildren Madysen Towne, Baylee Towne and Easton Towne all of Kellogg, Idaho; one brother James Battleson of Minnesota; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, one son James Battleson, two sisters and four brothers.
Cremation was held and Memorial Services will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. at the Wallace Elks Lodge (downstairs) of Wallace with Rev. Art Fleming officiating. A reception/luncheon will be held at the Elks following services.
