Derwin “Duke” James Smith, Sr., 80
Beloved father, Derwin “Duke” James Smith, Sr., 80, of Mullan, Idaho, passed away November 27, 2016 at Kootenai Health of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He was born April 13, 1936 in Arkoma, Oklahoma.
Duke attended schools in Oklahoma. He moved to the Silver Valley in March of 2016 from Reno, Nevada, to be near his son Derwin “DJ” Smith, Jr.
Duke had served as a grocery clerk at the ENK Market of Southern California and a clerk at the Scolari’s Food Market of Reno, Nevada.
Duke loved and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Duke is survived by his son Derwin “DJ” (Laura) Smith of Mullan, Idaho; four step-daughters including Pam Roberts of Deer Park, Washington; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Duke was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
Cremation will be held and upon Duke’s request, no services will be held.
Duke was a very loving man who had a heart of gold. He loved being here in the Silver Valley with his son DJ.
