Delza Ella Gardner, 99
Delza Ella Gardner, 99, of Silverton, Idaho, passed away January 16, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society- Silver Wood Village of Silverton. She was born November 3, 1917 in Wallace, Idaho; Delza was the daughter of Harry and Dollie (Wadley) Martin.
Delza has lived in this area all of her life. She attended and graduated from the Wallace High School in 1936.
Delza first married George McKelvy on November 26, 1936 in Wallace, Idaho. Together, George and Delza owned and operated the Combination Grocery store of Wallace for many years, until selling the store in 1973; Delza also served as the bookkeeper for the store. They had one beloved daughter Georgia. George passed away March 24, 1972.
Delza then married John Ira Gardner on May 5, 1973 in Wallace.
Delza loved and enjoyed traveling with John; they traveled to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Figi, Tahiti, Hong Kong and Thailand. She also loved spending time with family and friends at the river property on the North Fork of the Coeur d’ Alene River, playing cards, snowmobiling and gardening.
Delza is survived by two grandsons Patrick and Tonya Specht of Silverton, Idaho, Tom Specht also of Silverton; three great-grandchildren Arica, Anderson and McKelvy; three step-sons Jim and Lisa Gardner of Santa Rosa, California, Bob Gardner of Portland, Oregon and David Gardner and Deborah Howe of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two step-grandchildren Shirley Howe-Sadruddin and Cileia Howe. Delza was preceded in death by her first husband George and daughter Georgia.
A Celebration of Delza’s Life will be held and announced sometime this summer. Private family graveside services will be held at the Shoshone Memorial Gardens of Pinehurst, Idaho.
