Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Delmar “Del” Ray Beamis, 90, of Kingston, Idaho, passed away April 27, 2014 at the Mountain Valley Care & Rehabilitation of Kellogg. He was born October 1, 1923 in Spokane, Washington; Delmar was the son of Albert and Olive (Baughn) Beamis.
Del attended schools in Rose Lake. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II; Delmar was a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne in the Pacific Theatre.
Del married Gerry Carpenter on March 29, 1947 in Superior, Montana; Gerry passed away in September of 1999.
In his earlier years, Del served as a logger and miner. He then worked at the Bunker Hill Mining Company Zinc Plant for twenty years. Del also owned and operated Beamis Excavating from 1967-2004; when he retired.
Del was a member of the Osburn V.F.W. #1675; a member of the Eagles and had served as president of the Hunt Cemetery board.
Del loved and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing and hunting- Del tagged his first moose at the age of 85.
Del is survived by four children Trudy Matthews of Baker City, Oregon, Linda (David) Ingle of Spokane Valley, Washington, Diana (Jim) Ross of Othello, Washington and Ted Beamis of Kingston, Idaho; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister Lois Bachmeirer of Smelterville; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Del was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Gerry and three brothers Ted Baughn, Glen Beamis and Eugene Beamis.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Silver Valley Worship Center of Smelterville. A reception and potluck luncheon will be held at the Church Fellowship Hall following services. Interment will be held at the Hunt Cemetery of Kingston.
