Delbert A. “Del” Enquist, 76, of Pinehurst, Idaho passed away December 23, 2016 at Providence Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington. He was born June 28, 1940 in Colville, Washington; Del was the son of Lloyd and Hertha (Wagner) Enquist.
Del grew up in Colville, Chewelah, and Kelly Hill, Washington. He served in the National Guard.
Del raised his family in Spokane and was considered the honorary mayor of Hillyard at one time. He moved to the Silver Valley in the mid 1980s.
Del was a very hard worker, at one time he had 3 jobs, never missing a day of work. He worked for Acme Concrete as a truck boss and was proud to work on the Wallace Viaduct and the paving of Lookout Pass.
Del was united in marriage to Lynn Kelso on February 16, 2001.
Del enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. The family camped every summer at Banks Lake where they always had a great time. He also enjoyed Rogers High School Wrestling and NASCAR and stock car racing. Del loved old country music and was a great singer who enjoyed singing with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who had a unique sense of humor and was always willing to offer advice, even if it wasn’t asked for.
Del is survived by his wife, Lynn of the family home in Pinehurst; his children Derrick Enquist, Darren Enquist, Delene Enquist, Darla Enquist and Terry Rigsby; daughter-in-law Sandy Enquist; step daughters Elissa Knapp, Courtney Heiser and Kimberly Tyson; brother Hatch Enquist; sister Bonnie Gebhard; grandchildren Ryan, Alexandrea, Nick, Geo, Olivia, Etha, Samantha, Mariah, Callie, Jaxon, Kayti and Cassandra; two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters Russell, Donald, Martin, Martha, Ethel, Beatrice, and John.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 11:00AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst with Reverend Ken Bartle officiating; a luncheon will follow services in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Del’s memory can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
