Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Dee Ann Sverdsten, 78, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away March 24, 2016 at Hospice House of Coeur d‘Alene, Idaho.  She was born October 27, 1937 in Clarion, Iowa; Dee was the daughter of Virgel and Sara (Olson) Duea.

Dee’s family moved from Iowa when she was four years old to Lemon Grove, California, where she grew up. She graduated from Helix High School. Dee went on to attend Pacific Lutheran University where she met her future husband, Terry Sverdsten; they were united in marriage in 1957 at the Lemon Grove Lutheran Church.  Later that same year, Dee and Terry moved to the Silver Valley, they have lived most of the last fifty-eight years in Cataldo.

Dee was a devoted wife, mother and foster mother for many years. Later in life she worked for six years at the family logging business, Sverdsten Logging. Dee also worked for fourteen years as the deputy clerk at the City of Pinehurst.

Dee was a member of the American Lutheran Church of Kellogg, Idaho. She loved and enjoyed her family, horses and horseback riding, skiing and gardening. Dee was also a loving caregiver to her parents and her in-laws.

Dee is survived by her husband of over 58 years, Terry of the family home in Cataldo; one daughter, Lucia (Randy) Anderson of Cataldo; three sons, David (Suzi) Sverdsten of Cataldo, Paul Sverdsten of Cataldo, and Ron (Marie) Sverdsten of Pinehurst; her sister, Lois (Tommy) Dumont of Coeur d‘ Alene; and her grandchildren, Jeremy, Casey, Chris, Zachary, Stefanie, Sara, Stephanie, Ashley and Ben. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren. Dee is preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Todd Sverdsten.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the American Lutheran Church of Kellogg with Pastor Tom Hughes officiating. A reception will follow services in the church fellowship hall.
