Beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, David “Dave” Preston Koenig, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away December 3, 2015 at the Shoshone Medical Center. He was born November 14, 1945 in Houston, Texas; Dave was the son of Donald B. and Mary E. (Lewis) Koenig.
Dave grew up in Houston and graduated from Waltrip High School. He attended the University of Texas and studied philosophy and political science. In 1973, Dave married Cindy McAlpin in New Braunfels, Texas. Together, they had two children, Dax and Melissa.
Dave lived many places including Las Vegas, Nevada; Honolulu, Hawaii; Indianapolis, Indiana; Miami, Florida; and Southern California before moving to the Silver Valley.
Dave was very interested in politics; he worked as a political consultant for many years. In his younger years, he worked in sales and won several awards for outstanding performance. He was a member of the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table Club for achieving sales excellence. Dave was a very personable man and had a great sense of humor.
He loved traveling, reading and watching the international news. He also enjoyed nature and wildlife.
Dave is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Cindy Koenig; his son Dax Koenig of Los Angeles, California; his daughter Melissa (Clint) Bartlett of Simi Valley, California; one sister Judith Koenig-Hardy of The Rio Grande Valley, Texas; and one sister-in-law Betsy Lucas of Pasadena, California. Dave is also survived by his niece Emily Lucas and nephew Warren Lucas. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald L. Koenig.
Cremation will take place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
