David Ward Gray, 56, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away June 4, 2014 in Osburn. He was born August 6, 1957 in Wallace, Idaho; David was the son of Darrel and Jacqueline (Blacketer) Gray.
David attended and graduated from the Wallace High School in 1975. He then attended and graduated from the North Idaho College in electrical engineering as a journeyman electrician. Over the years, he furthered his education and continued to study in safety.
David married Diana Hokanson on November 12, 2005 in Kellogg, Idaho.
David served as a miner, a journeyman electrician and lastly as a safety superintendent/coordinator for the #4 shaft for Cementation USA at the Lucky Friday Mine of Mullan.
David was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Pinehurst, Idaho and had served as a volunteer for the Osburn Quick Response Unit. He had also served as Captain of the Mine Rescue Team at US Silver representing the Galena Mine.
David loved and enjoyed camping, fishing, tying flies, off road motorcycling and traveling. He also enjoyed skiing and had served on the Lookout Ski Patrol and was a volunteer at the Lookout Free Ski School.
David is survived by his beloved wife Diana Gray of the family home of Osburn, Idaho; one son Seth Robert Gray of Whitefish, Montana; two step-sons Greg (Sonja) Schroeder of Kalispell, Montana, John (Michele) Schroeder of Kingston, Idaho; one step-daughter Emily (Robert) Davis of Hauser, Idaho; four grandchildren Morgan and Christian Davis, Lillian and Lane Schroeder; his father and step-mother Darrel and Shirley Gray of Woodland Park- Wallace, Idaho; one brother Michael Gray of Missoula, Montana; two sisters Freda (Kermit) Dee of Homer, Alaska and Debbie Gray of Spokane, Washington; David is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Jacqueline Gray and one son Brandon Gray.
Memorial Services for David Ward Gray will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014, at 1:00 P.M. at the Silver Valley Worship Center of Smelterville, Idaho with Rev. Ken Bartle officiating. A potluck reception and a gathering of family and friends will be held in the basement of the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Pinehurst following services.
