Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Daniel “Dan” Dwight Harrison, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away on April 13, 2015 at Kootenai Hospital in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was born September 6, 1943 in Dillon, Montana. Dan was the son of James Dwight and Ruth (Jackson) Harrison.
Dan was raised in Dillon, Montana. He graduated from Beaverhead High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Montana College in Dillon.
In 1964 Dan was united in marriage to Kathleen Morton in Dillon, Montana.
He moved to the Silver Valley with his family in 1979.
Dan was a teacher and coach for the Kellogg school district and taught night school for North Idaho College.
Dan was an avid hunter; he loved fly fishing and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed his time coaching/teaching young men and women and helping them succeed. His greatest legacy is his family; it was absolutely the most important thing in his life.
Dan is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathy Harrison of the family home in Pinehurst; four sons, David Harrison of Coeur d’ Alene, Kevin (Lisa) Harrison of Portland, Oregon, Mark (Stacey) Harrison of Salem, Oregon and Steve Harrison of Coeur d’Alene; seven grandchildren, Jacob and Garrett Harrison, Austin Harrison, Bailey and Katy Harrison, and Cody and Ryan Harrison; three brothers, Wayne (Kay) Harrison, Ted (Joyce) Harrison and John (Dana) Harrison; and one sister, Sue Johnson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family. Dan is preceded in death by his parents.
A viewing/visitation will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 11:00am-1:00pm with a Memorial Service starting at 1:00pm at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel in Kellogg. A gathering of family and friends and reception will be held at the chapel following services.
