Daisy Durfee

April 27, 1925 — October 21, 2014


Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Daisy Golden Durfee, 89, of Mullan, Idaho, passed away October 21, 2014 at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan of Silverton, Idaho. She was born April 27, 1925 in North Star, Idaho; Daisy was the daughter of Horace and Bessie (Steele) Lipe.

Daisy attended schools in Hagerman, Idaho. She married Harold Durfee, Sr. on November 10, 1944 in Vancouver, Washington; they moved to the Silver Valley in 1945. Harold passed away on February 8, 1994.

Daisy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She so loved her family and spending time with them. Daisy had worked in janitorial services for the Shoshone County Courthouse for forty-two years.

In her earlier years, Daisy was a member of a Mullan Bowling League. She also loved and enjoyed crafts, baking, cooking, making huckleberry jam and was very secretive of her two special candy recipes; she also enjoyed preparing family photo albums. Daisy had also managed the Mullan Youth Center for thirty plus years; she was affectionately known as “Grandma” and was very special to many children.

Daisy is survived by seven children Harold (Karen) Durfee of Mullan, Idaho, Ellen (Dave) Autio of Mullan, Idaho, Paul Durfee of Anchorage, Alaska, Randy (Christine) Durfee of La Center, Washington, John (Kathleen) Durfee of Hudson, Ohio, Mark (Rhonda) Durfee of Buhl, Idaho and Brian (Denise) Durfee of Clearwater, Utah; thirty-four grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; her companion Carl Jensen of Silverton, Idaho; one sister Beth Inman of Bellevue, Idaho; and her beloved dog Snoopy. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, two sons Pete and Joe Durfee, one sister and three brothers.

A Celebration of Daisy’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Morning Club of Mullan; this will be potluck and everyone is welcome.
