It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Colleen A. Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Colleen's journey on this Earth came to a peaceful close on August 4, 2023, at the age of 83. Her life was a testament to kindness, strength, and dedication to her loved ones.
Born in Spokane on December 9, 1939, Colleen was the daughter of Pete and Frankee Broyles and was the oldest of three children. She lived in Spokane in the early years of her life and moved with the family to Playa del Ray, California and then to Twentynine Palms, California where the family homesteaded five acres in the 1950’s. She and the family moved to the Lewiston-Clarkston area in 1954 and she graduated from Lewiston Senior High School in 1957.
Colleen went on to college at the University of Idaho where she met her husband Jerry Johnson and together they started a life on his family’s farm in Worley, Idaho. It was there that they raised their two children, Jason Johnson and Jill Towson and Colleen is survived by them, their families and her younger brother Bob Broyles and his family.
Colleen shared most of her life with her family in Worley, and also had many adventures with them during years when the family migrated back and forth between Boise, Idaho, then Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Worley. She later settled back in Lewiston and resided there for many years until her passing close to her daughter in Silverton, Idaho.
Our mother, sister, aunt and friend will be missed in our lives and we happily accept any prayers and well wishes that may be offered. Her legacy will continue with the lives and in the hearts of her loved ones and we will continue to remember the mark she left on our lives.
A memorial service to celebrate Colleen A. Johnson's life will be held on Friday, August 11th at the Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston, 1122 7th St. As Colleen was always a pet lover in life, in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Lewis and Clark Animal Shelter in her honor.
May Colleen's spirit find eternal peace, and her memory continue to inspire us all.
Memories of Colleen and messages of condolence may be shared with her family online at www.shoshonefuneralservice.com. Shoshone Funeral Services, Kellogg, is assisting the Johnson family with arrangements.
