Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Colleen Antoinette Hibbard Hinman, 85, of Wallace, Idaho, passed away October 24, 2015 at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan of Silverton, Idaho. She was born January 25, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois; Colleen was the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Keiser) Donnelly.
Colleen attended and graduated from the Hyde Park High School of Chicago, Illinois. She married Charles “Chuck” P. Hibbard on March 23, 1948 in Chicago. The family moved to the Silver Valley in January of 1967 from Salmon, Idaho; Chuck passed away on March 19, 1987. Colleen later married Dorwin Hinman on April 8, 1988 in Wallace; Dorwin passed away February 14, 2014.
Colleen had worked as office manager for her husband, Chuck Hibbard Optometry business of Wallace. She then worked for the Shoshone News-Press for a time and lastly, at the Time To Travel Agency of Wallace.
Colleen proudly served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross; she was a life-long bridge player and had belonged to several Bridge Clubs. Colleen was also an active member of the United Church Of Christ Congregational of Wallace.
Colleen was an avid golfer and snow skier; she had co-owned and operated along with her husband Chuck, the Lost Trail Pass Ski Area. Colleen also enjoyed knitting (she had knitted beautiful Christmas stockings for the family), gardening and sewing. But above all, she loved and enjoyed her family, cooking and entertaining.
Colleen is survived by her children Mont (Andena) Hibbard of Lewiston, Idaho; Corki (Elmer) Mattila of Wallace, Idaho; four grandchildren Aliina (Rob) Anton-Erik of Everett, Washington; Hans Hibbard of Bend, Oregon; Jamie (Louis) Reynolds of Twin Bridges, Montana and Colby (Shannon) Mattila of Rathdrum, Idaho; eight great-grandchildren Millie, Mary, Charlie, Annie, Forrest, Aidan, Bryn and Sylvia; one sister Edwina Jeske of Post Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands Chuck and Dorwin.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at the United Church Of Christ Congregational of Wallace, Idaho with Rev. Alice Ling officiating. A reception and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Wallace Elks following services.
