Clarence Arthur Moore, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, 93, of Harrison, ID, passed away on February 2, 2025 at his home in Harrison. Clarence was born on August 1, 1931 in Leola, SD, son of the late Arthur and Genevieve (Hart) Moore.

Clarence graduated from Forbes High School in Forbes, ND and went on to attend the Ellendale Normal College in Ellendale, ND, where he earned a degree in business. He was also a member of the US Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Clarence married his high school sweetheart, Betty Mae Derry, on September 16, 1950 in Aberdeen, SD. The couple relocated to the Silver Valley in 1962 from Craigmont, ID. Betty later passed way on July 17, 2021.

Clarence was a high school teacher for numerous years and taught at both Craigmont High School in Craigmont, ID, as well as Kellogg High School in Kellogg, ID for 26 years. In addition, he taught evening adult office machine/typing classes, was treasure of the teacher’s credit union, drove bus for School District 391, sold tickets to high school games and matches, and built display cabinets for the trophies in Andews Gym.

After his retirement in 1988, Betty and Clarence followed their passion for traveling. They enjoyed their adventures to Europe, Canada, and in the US. They spent thirty-two years as “snowbirds”, traveling cross-country to Quartzsite, Yuma, Texas; with a goal of visiting all 50 states. He was honored to be included in the Lone Eagle Honor Flight in May of 2023 for his trip to Washington DC.

He was a member of the Kellogg Elks and the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time in his wood shop and wood working and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He and Betty went “over and above” constantly supporting their children’s adventures, moves, and crises. During his “golden years”, he volunteered for Second Harvest food distribution and the Elk’s Christmas food and gift basket building and distribution.

In addition to this parents and beloved wife, Betty, Clarence is preceded in death by a daughter, June Ann Moore.

Survivors include his three children, Clare “Butch” (Lorena) Moore of Harrison, ID, Karen (Mark) Edwards of Libby, MT, and Bryan (Chrystal) Moore of Pinehurst, ID; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend an invitation to two Celebration of Life gatherings; the first being held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the St. Maries Elks Lodge beginning at 11:00 AM; the second will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Inland Lounge, 213 McKinley Ave, in Kellogg from 3:00 – 6:00 PM.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
