Clarabel L. Hei, 93, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of Silverton, Idaho passed away on February 4, 2024, at The Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, ID. Clarabel, daughter of the late Walter Coburn and Pearl (Richardson) Coburn, was born on September 9, 1930, in Pepin County, Wisconsin.
Clarabel graduated from high school in Arkansas, Wisconsin in 1948. She married William D. Hei on May 31, 1949, in Plum City, Wisconsin. The couple later moved and settled in Pinehurst, Idaho in 1953.
Clarabel worked for the Kellogg School District, retiring after 23 years with the Sunnyside School lunch program. She was a member of the P - K Lady Lions Club for many years, and a member of the Catholic Daughters where she was also a Junior Catholic Daughter leader, a Cub Scout leader, and a proud Little League Mother.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, working crossword puzzles, and playing “Words With Friends” on her iPad. Clarabel loved sports and was an avid Gonzaga University basketball fan.
In addition to her parents, and husband, William, Clarabel is preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Hei Murchison; a grandson, Douglas (Bud) Greer; a granddaughter, Jennifer Mitchell; as well as one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include her children, Greg (Channa) Hei of Black Lake, ID, Mike (Wendy) Hei of Pinehurst, ID, Tom (DeAnn) Hei of Pinehurst, ID, and Patti Hei (Rod Plank) of Kellogg, ID; 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Scheffelmaier’s Country Barn, 18500 S. Old Lane Rd. in Cataldo, ID.
