Charlotte Miller

Charlotte Ann Miller, 80

Charlotte went to be with her precious Lord on April 27, 2021; she passed away at the Schneidmiller House (Hospice House) of Coeur d’ Alene, due to heart failure.  She was born September 11, 1940, to Frank and Ella Mae (Morrison) Hunt, in her grandfather Charles Hunt’s farm house in Kingston, Idaho.

Charlotte attended Kingston grade school and graduated from the Kellogg High School in 1958.

Charlotte led a very eventful and happy life.  She married Larry Miller on September 27, 1958, in the Log Church in Pinehurst (Pinehurst Community Bible Church).

In 1944, Charlotte started to attend church when she was 4 years old and attended this church until her death.  She was always very active in church activities, taught Sunday School since she was 14, played the piano, sang and was Sunday School Superintendent; Charlotte also led Vacation Bible School for many years.  She and Larry directed youth groups for children on Sunday nights.  Charlotte also served as deaconess and did many other jobs through the years.

Charlotte and her mother, Ella Mae Hunt, traveled out in the Summer to the creeks, gulches and canyons of the Silver Valley and held bible school for the children under the auspices of Child Evangelism Fellowship; they also held bible classes for children in their homes.  Charlotte and Larry spent many years counseling, and in Charlotte’s case, cooking at Cocolalla Bible camp.

Charlotte spent some time as president of the Our Day Off club, which was started by her grandmother, Frances Hunt and aunt, Rena Hunt; this club was built in 1934 between Kingston and Cataldo by her grandfather Charles Hunt, his brothers and friends.  People are still meeting as a club in Pinehurst.  Charlotte served as chairman of the Pinehurst Senior Citizens Club since 2004.  She also led the rabbit project in 4H and helped Eileen with her horse project; she also helped in the girls cooking and sewing projects.

After living in homes in Pinehurst, Cataldo and Kingston, Charlotte and Larry moved to Latour Creek in 1966, built a house and had a farm there.  She milked cows and goats, they raised chickens, rabbits, pigs and horses.  They had a huge garden and Charlotte canned and froze everything that was not nailed down.  Charlotte loved and enjoyed her family, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, quilting and painting pictures.  She sewed most of the clothes she and her children wore.  Charlotte’s most favorite hobbies were gardening and canning.

In 1985, Charlotte and Larry sold the farm to Ron and Shirley Forsberg and left to join the New Tribes Mission- a mission that reaches out to tribes and people who have never heard about Jesus.  They spent 5 years in Brazil; Mark was still a child and was able to go with them; he loved the jungle.  They spent the next 10 years at the mission headquarters in Sanford, Florida, where Charlotte worked in the finance office and Larry kept the grounds and orange groves.  In 2003, they retired and moved back to North Idaho and settled in Pinehurst.

Charlotte is survived by her dear and beloved husband of 62 years Larry Miller of the family home of Pinehurst; four very loved children Eileen Gayle (Jess) Steady of Pinehurst, Laura Sue Miller of Kingston, Idaho, Sarah (Steve) Janz of Tappin, B.C., Canada, and Mark (Heidi) Miller of Kingston; 6 grandsons Ryan Steady, Tyler (Stephanie) Janz, Denver (Katie) Janz, Brandon Miller, Austin Miller and Josiah Miller; 4 granddaughters Sarah (Tom) Tallman, Rachel (Chas) Heady, Anna (David) McMaster and Naomi Miller; 9 great-grandchildren; one sister Merry Smith of Spokane, Washington; and one brother Ed (Deb) Hunt of Alaska.  Charlotte was preceded in death by their baby boy born in 1967 and her parents.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Pinehurst Community Bible Church with Rev. Aaron Miller officiating.  A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Church Hall following services.  Charlotte will be interred next to their baby boy in the Hunt Cemetery in Kingston.  The Cemetery began as a family plot, when her grandfather’s brother died in 1896.
