Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Charles “Tony” Everette Tawney, 93, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away November 10, 2013 at the Mountain Valley Care & Rehabilitation of Kellogg. He was born September 17, 1920 at Worth, West Virginia; Tony was the son of Everett Hoge and Bertha Alma (Donovan) Tawney.
Tony attended and graduated from high school in Norfolk, West Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II.
Tony married Mary C. Yates on February 21, 1942 at York, South Carolina. Tony and Mary moved to the Silver Valley in 1948 from Virginia. Mary passed away on May 4, 2013.
Tony served as a skip tender and number one hoistman for the Bunker Hill Mining Company of Kellogg from 1947-1988.
Tony was a member of the Kellogg Elks Lodge #1841, a member of the Knights of Pythias and a member of the Kellogg Masonic Lodge. He loved and enjoyed his family and traveling with his beloved wife Mary.
Tony is survived by one son Anthony (Laura) Tawney of Redmond, Washington; four grandchildren Shane Shisler of Poulsbo, Washington, Heather Carlson of Mount Vernon, Washington, Bryan Tawney of Seattle, Washington and Trevor Tawney of Kirkland, Washington; five step-grandchildren Sean Shaughnessy, Bryan Shaughnessy, Colin Shaughnessy, Katie Twiddy and Colleen Robertson; he is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren.
Cremation was held and private family inurnment graveside services will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg.
