Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle, Cecil Edward Mendy, 76, of Kellogg, Idaho passed away on May 5, 2015 at Kootenai Health in Coeur d‘Alene. Cecil was born February 9, 1939 in Smelterville, Idaho. He was the son of Benjamin and Velma (Deasy) Mendy.
Cecil was a resident of the Silver Valley his entire life. He attended school in Wardner and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a miner and most recently as a janitor. Cecil was married to Carolyn Stout and together they had three children; they later divorced.
Cecil attended church at the Mountain View Congregational Church in Kellogg. He enjoyed cars, the mountains and camping and fishing. Cecil loved spending time with his grandchildren playing hide-and-seek and making them goulash.
Cecil is survived by his three children, son Kenneth Mendy and daughters Kimberly (Benjamin) Barker and Cynthia Sanabria, all of Kellogg; his grandchildren Joseph, Bradley and Christopher Barker, Junior, Jose, and Angel Sanabria, and Trevor and Kayla Chrismann; his great granddaughter Jocelyn; brothers Jack (Janet), Alex, Harold (Ramona), and Reuben (Darlene) Mendy and sisters Berna Warren and Theresa Mendy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, brother Philip Mendy, sister Audrey Hoffman and granddaughter Jazmin Sanabria.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9th 11am at Mountain View Congregational Church in Kellogg. A potluck reception will be held at the church following the service.
