Carol Lilly Merritt, 87
Carol Lilly Merritt, 87, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away February 15, 2016 at Kootenai Health of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. She was born March 23, 1928 in McGaffey, New Mexico to William and Alice Sherman. Carol attended and graduated from the Pasco High School of Pasco, Washington. She became a school teacher and Carol enjoyed the children very much; they were more than just students to her.
On December 15, 1944, Carol married Merle Merritt in Ketchikan, Alaska. They moved to the Silver Valley in 1987 from Deer Lodge, Montana.
Carol really enjoyed traveling; Merle and Carol traveled to many parts of the world. She was very knowledgeable in both geography and history. They both were members of the Elks Lodge for many years. Carol was a very kind and loving person. She never complained about anything and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She really enjoyed helping others out in any way she could. Carol really loved Chinx Wild, her Norwegian elkhound, and going for walks. She also enjoyed reading, romantic classic music and her favorite hobby was stamp collecting. Carol was an active member of the American Lutheran Church in Kellogg
Carol is survived by many wonderful friends, her Church family and her adopted family Tony and Kenda Silva and their two daughters Brandy and Crystal. She was preceded in death by her husband Merle, her parents William and Alice, her sister Elisabeth, her brother William the IV and her furry companion Chinx.
Carol was a very special lady who is going to be greatly missed.
A Gathering in honor of Carol will be held directly after Church services on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the American Lutheran Church of Kellogg, Idaho.
