Arline Eva Stanley

November 18, 1929 — November 30, 2023

Silverton, Idaho

It is with heavy hearts that the Stanley brothers, Gary, Bill, and Robin, announce the passing of their beloved mother, Arline (Queenie) Stanley, beloved wife sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother on November 30, 2023 at the age of 94 at Silverton Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia in Silverton, ID.

Arline was born on November 18, 1929 in St. Paul, MN to Hulda and Art Manteuffel and was raised with her sister, Margy Manteuffel Caron. She married Roger Stanley in 1945 and began raising a family of one girl and six boys. She worked as a meat wrapper for Wallace City Meat Market and later went to work at the Wallace Food Center. AT the Food Center, she progresses from a meat wrapper to check out clerk to eventually managing the Henny Penny department where she became known as “Queenie” and the “Doughnut Lady”. After retiring from the Food Center then called Excel and no Harvest Foods, she worked for her youngest son, Lance, at the front office of the Brooks Hotel and Restaurant.

While raising her large family in a small house filled with love, she was a Cub Scout leader and an original member of the West Pearl Monda Kay Club. Arline was a founding member of the Aqua Bells, a senior swimming group at the Mullan pool. She was also very active in the Order of the Eastern Star up until her health prevented her from participating.

Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, cooking and always prepared enough to feed everyone in the neighborhood, playing cards, and camping. She loved chocolate and insisted on always having Hershey bars on hand for the children when they visited.

Arline was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; her mother and father, Hulda and Art Manteuffel; her sister, Margy Caron; her oldest son, Stephen; daughter, Sheila McIntyre; and her two sons, Lance and Doug.

She is survived by three sons, Gary Stanley of Silverton, Bill (Eileen) Stanley of Wallace, ID, and Robin (Leslee) Stanley of Silverton; daughter-in-law, Linda Stanley of Arizona; grandchildren, JoAnna McIntyre-Landsdale, Ron McIntyre, Brett Stanley, Mona Mickle, Darin Stanley, Brandon Stanley, Derik Stanley, Sis Little, Ralph Ellison, Lonnie Ellison, Matt Stanley, Dana Vawter, Brian Stanley, Tina Lee, Katie Stanley, Rachel Stanley and numerous great and great great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express great gratitude to Dr. Branz Dr. Lakko for the compassionate care they provided our mother as well as her many personal care givers, Loving Care and More and the entire staff of Cascadia of Silverton. Also, a very special thank you to Arline’s dear friend, Marlene Smith of Texas, who called her almost every night for the last few years and always ended their talk with a prayer.

A memorial service will be held at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Osburn, ID, on December 9, 2:00 PM followed by a reception at The Brooks in Wallace.
