Antoinette Preece

June 30, 1932 — November 16, 2013

On November 16, 2013 at 5:40 P.M., Heaven received a beautiful angel, Antoinette “Toni” June Preece. She fought hard and courageous in her battle with cancer. Toni passed peacefully at her home in Rose Lake surrounded by the love of her life and her four children.

Toni was born on June 30 1932 in Los Angeles, California; she was the daughter of Jean and Martha (Strauss) Gindraux. Toni grew up in California and had many fond memories of her childhood. Her family would take weekly picnics to beautiful parks and explore the many scenic mountains and lakes. Toni’s love for the outdoors only deepened as she grew older.

On June 20, 1949, Antoinette married her soul mate Richard (Dick) Keith Preece. They had sixty-four amazing years together. In 1958, they moved to South Lake Tahoe, California and then moved to Idaho in the early 1970’s. Toni and Dick had a 365 acre ranch in Sanders, Idaho and another ranch in Moscow, Idaho. They eventually sold the Sanders Ranch and finally settled in a beautiful house on Rose Lake. There are so many memories that will be forever cherished in all of our hearts.

Toni received her Cosmetologist license in 1962 and spent many years in the industry. She was a very active member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints of the Kellogg Ward. Toni was a deeply spiritual woman and was very accepting of all beliefs. She was an exceptional artist and painted beautiful works of art. Toni was our rock, our advisor, our pillar of strength; she had so much compassion and always took care of everyone else.

Toni loved to go camping with her family. It was her real passion to have her family together and spend time in nature’s gift. She enjoyed every part of the camping process from the planning, to the packing, to the karaoke singing. Every year a wonderful family camping trip was planned. Toni would always make sure she packed enough extra stuff for everyone “just in case”. She would bake tons of cookies for the grandchildren and tell stories around the campfire. Toni loved to just watch her family enjoy themselves and most of all having her family together. She was the definitive of a “Happy Camper”. There are no words to express how deeply Toni will be missed by her family.

Toni is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-four years Richard (Dick) Preece of the family home of Rose Lake; three sons Guy (Theresa) Preece of Newman Lake, Washington, Greg Preece of Moscow, Idaho and Jim (Rose) Preece of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; one daughter Toni (Marshall) Crigger of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; her grandchildren Matt, Sarah, Nicole, Amber Travis, Marissa, Ben and Garret; she is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother David Gindraux of St. Maries, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. Toni was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints of Pinehurst, Idaho with Bishop Lonny Duce officiating.
