Alicia Sanchez, 94

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Alicia Sanchez, 94, formerly of the Silver Valley passed away October 14, 2018, at Courtyard Assisted Living of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Alicia was born on September 18, 1924, in La Ceiba, Honduras; she was the daughter of Juan Mejia Sarmiento and Carlota Valladares de Mejia.

In May of 1948, Alicia was united in marriage to Luis Sanchez. Together they had six children. In 1972, Alicia and Luis moved the family to New Orleans, LA where they met Drs. Fred and Ann Haller.  Alicia and Luis became close friends with the Hallers and in 1976, they along with the Hallers moved to the Silver Valley and called it home ever since.

Alicia was a member of the Catholic daughters and attended St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg. She was also a member of Circulo De La Divina Misericordia en La Ceiba, Honduras.

Alicia enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. Over the years she traveled to Europe, took trips back home to Honduras and went on cruises. Most of all Alicia loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alicia is survived by her six children Luis Sanchez, Lottie Mejia, Juan Sanchez, Enrique Sanchez, Maria Sanchez-Squire and George Sanchez. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Alicia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her six siblings.

Cremation will take place and private family services will be held at a later date.
