Alice Louisa Darrah

Alice Louisa Darrah, 86, of St. Maries, ID and formerly of Osburn, ID, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023 at Valley Vista Care Center in St. Maries, ID after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Alice was born on February 20, 1937 in Haverhill Township, MN, a daughter of the late A.J. Cogswell and Amy (Waldren) Cogswell.  Alice married Phillip Darrah on January 5, 1962 in Las Vegas, NV where the couple resided until 1977. They then made their home in Osburn, ID until 1984 when they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and finally moved to Saint Maries, Idaho where they have lived since 1993.

She was an excellent homemaker, loved her family and doted on all of her grandchildren. Alice was an avid reader and a life time member of Weight Watchers. She was also a devoted member of the Episcopal faith.

In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her oldest son, Steve Darrah; and her only brother, Marlin Cogswell.

Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Phillip Darrah, of St. Maries, ID; five children, Clair (Sue) Stevens of Arizona, Lynn (Alice) Darrah of Spokane Valley, WA, Marlin Darrah of Sagle, ID, Tammy Anderson of Las Vegas, NV, and Ginger (Chris) Benner of Spokane, WA; 23 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, 3:30 pm, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church located at 501 E Wallace Ave, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814.  All who knew Alice are invited to attend the service with a potluck following.
