Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Alfred “Al” Eugene Hunter, 77, of Elizabeth Park- Kellogg, passed away March 16, 2014 at the family home of Elizabeth Park. He was born May 29, 1936 in Hope, Idaho; Al was the son of William and Verona (Tyler) Hunter.
Al attended schools in Clark Fork, Idaho. He moved to the Silver Valley in 1955 from Clark Fork. Al served in the U.S. Army.
Al married Cecilia Davis on December 9, 1961 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
Al had first worked for his Dad, William Hunter, as a leaser for a mine in the Clark Fork area. He then served as a miner for the Star Mine and Consolidated Silver of the Hecla Mining Company and had also worked for a short time for the Galena Mine of ASARCO.
Al loved and enjoyed his family, camping, hunting, fishing, auto mechanics and picking huckleberries; he was also a very competitive card player.
Al is survived by his beloved wife Cecilia Hunter of the family home of Elizabeth Park; three children Susan (Darren) Stein of Elk Creek, Cheryl (Scott) Gladish of Kellogg and John (Timmie) Hunter of Kellogg; thirteen grandchildren Joshua Stice, Christopher Stice, Rickey Zent, Nichole Bauman, Rachelle Zent, Amanda Whitley, Cindy Therrian, Dana Gladish, Shannon Gladish, Jacob Hunter, Kaytee Hunter, Amanda Appleberg and Joey Appleberg; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers Edward (Linda) Hunter of Osburn and Fred “Bear” (Susan) Hunter of Pahrump, Nevada; three sisters Wanda (Jim) Lowman of Aberdeen, Washington, Edna (Lyle) Calhoon of Bremerton, Washington and Linda (Lannie) Harris of Roseburg, Oregon; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Melvin, Everett and Raymond; and one sister Glenda.
Memorial Services and A Celebration of Al’s Life will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Silver Valley Worship Center of Smelterville, Idaho with Pastor Corey Berti officiating. A reception and a gathering of family and friends will be at the Church Fellowship Hall following services; this will be potluck and everyone is welcome.
