Bob Bouton
Our beloved dad, Robert James Bouton, passed away on July 11, 2019 in Auburn, Washington at the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 5 days.
He was born in Libby, Montana to parents Harry B. Bouton III and LaDessa Dell Seek Bouton. During his school years he delivered newspapers (1938-1941); worked in the dairy (1941-1942); worked in the sawmill (1943-44), and graduated in 1943. Bob moved to the Silver Valley (Idaho) in 1944 working for Day Mines, Bitco (Kaman), E. G. Smith Trucking, and the Osburn Supply Company. He was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1949, sent to Japan, was released in the spring of 1950 and then recalled that summer for Korea; released in the fall of 1951 and discharged in 1953.
Bob married June Marilyn Smith on August 5, 1951, in the Methodist Church in Wallace, Idaho. They moved to San Francisco, California, while Bob served in the U.S. Army stationed at the Presidio. June and Bob returned to Osburn and worked at the Osburn Supply Company, eventually purchasing the business in 1973; they retired in 1993. They traveled all over the world. Bob participated in a bowling league for many years, as well as the Silver Valley Square Dance club. He was very active in the Osburn Lions club for over 50 years, holding a number of offices. Bob also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, gardening, dancing, and traveling.
He moved to Auburn after the death of his beloved wife. Bob is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Karen Bouton of Kent, Washington; brother Donald Patt of San Diego, California; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel in Kellogg, Idaho. A reception will be held at the Kellogg Chapel following services.
