Betty Johnson

December 10, 1943 — May 28, 2018

Betty Mae Johnson, 74

After a long and courageous fight, Betty Mae Johnson was called home on May 28, 2018.  Betty was born on December 10, 1943 to Gustave and Pauline Jans in Harvey, North Dakota.  She was the youngest of five siblings.  Betty grew up in Martin, North Dakota, graduating from High School in 1962.

At the age of 16, Betty met her one true love, Dallas.  They were united in marriage on September 28, 1962.  In 1965, they moved to Mullan and they lived there until Dallas retired in 2000; after retirement, Betty and Dallas moved to Post Falls.  Mullan had a special place in their hearts and was always home to Betty and Dallas.

Betty worked at numerous jobs.  She worked as a CNA at a local care facility and had also worked at Ruby’s Grill, as well as, other restaurants in Mullan.  Betty also sold Avon and Amway.

Betty was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Mullan and had attended the Real Life Ministries of Post Falls.

Betty’s two greatest joys in her life was being a wife to Dallas and a mom to Gust.  She also loved the Lord and would always talk about the Lord, Dallas and Gust in conversation.  Betty was a proud wife, mom and christian.  She also enjoyed making quilts.

Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gust and Katie Johnson of Mullan; numerous nieces and nephews; her “fur baby” Cocoa and her sister-in-law and dear friend Sharon Buddenberg of Mullan.  Betty was preceded in death by her husband Dallas; her parents Gustave and Pauline Jans, two sisters Darlene and Delores, her brothers Theodore, Edwin and Reinhold; two nieces Judy and Lori and one nephew Myron.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Mullan with Rev. Ken Bartle officiating.  A reception/luncheon will be held in the basement of the church following services; this will be potluck and everyone is welcome.  Inurnment will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery of Mullan.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Mullan Volunteer Fire Department.

The family wishes to express their special thanks to the staff at Kootenai Health for their amazing care and for making Mom’s final days comfortable.
